Your day in Barcelona will be well-spent on this sightseeing shore excursion, which includes skip-the-line access at La Sagrada Familia. After you leave port, drive up to Barcelona's Montjuïc hill, the site of the 1992 Olympics. After a brief stop at the Catalunya National Art Museum, continue to Plaça Espanya and past the modernist buildings of the Eixample area.

Drive through Passeig de Gracia, home to Barcelona’s renowned Antonio Gaudí buildings – La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Then stop at the Hospital de Sant Pau, one of the greatest symbols of the modernist architecture in Barcelona and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When you reach La Sagrada Familia, one of the most well-known and popular attractions in Spain, you’ll skip the long lines that are often very long. Your guide will lead you straight inside this magnificent structure for a guided tour.

You’ll then head to the oldest part of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter, where you’ll stroll through the narrow streets of medieval Barcelona. Stop for a free glass of cava (Catalan sparkling wine) and tapas tasting in a local market. From there, visit the Jewish Quarter, the Royal Palace and the 2,000-year-old Roman temple.

Continue to the Born district and Santa Maria del Mar church, one of the most beautiful in Barcelona, where your tour ends.

  1. Great guide who really knew the city and sights. Waiting in line was minimal compared to other lines a block long. Guide was very accomodating to all requests. Timely pick-up at the cruise port.
  2. This was not the trip we signed up for BUT, Christian made the trip all worth while. He is an independant guide but hasa passion for Barcelona. He was the best guide on our entire trip and oh by the way where he took us was very interesting. Still have not gotten into the church, but there is always a next time. If Christian had not been so good the company would have heard from me. They still might for the matter
  3. Great tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly! He def kept us entertained at all time!
  4. It was pouring rain for more than half of the tour. About mid-point of the tour we considered leaving the group as we were soaked despite having the proper rain gear. In my opinion, if the weather is adverse, the tour company should have cancelled the tour. Not having to wait in line to see La Sagrada Familia was the selling point of this tour (especially in the heavy rain). Walking through the Gothic Quarter was amazing and we had a great meal at a local tapas restaurant. The other outstanding sights were Park Guell and lastly, La Pedrera. Our guide Anna had an incredible knowledge base. However, she needs to manage her time better as it was 6 pm by the time we completed touring our last stop at La Pedrera. As this was a Shore Excursion, we assumed we were going to be taken back to the cruise terminal. However, this was not the case and because we didn't stipulate returning back to the terminal or being dropped off at a hotel, we had to obtain transportation from La Pedrera to the hotel we were checking into. Thus, when a customer makes this excursion reservation, they should be asked about transportation options to do at the end of the full day tour.
  5. The tour itself was fine; however, connecting with the tour people was nearly impossible. Our ship docked at the N Terminal in Barcelona. We were instructed to be there by 7:30 and not be late. We got there at 7:15 and waited with 4 other people until 7:55 and no one showed up with the promised "sign" indicating they were there to pick us up for the tour. Filled with anxiety and not wanting to miss this important tour, we elected (after a phone call from the port to the tour company was unsuccessful - the phone recording stated the tour company didn't open until 8:15) we (the 6 of us) elected to take a taxi (16 euros) to the plaza where our tour was supposed to begin at 8:30. There was no evidence of any tour operators. We were unsuccessful in trying to get any information. We stood on all four corners of the plaza, hoping we'd find our guide. Finally, we stopped two women and asked them if they would be so kind as to call the phone number on our document since they had local phone service. We then reached the tour operator who tried to give us directions to her office quite a distance away. We told her "you find us". Finally we walked several blocks, met her at the Burger King and she walked us to her office and ultimately to the bus with other tourists who were waiting for us. Bottom line: Why didn't the tour company know where our ship was docked and get there to pick us up? If it hadn't been for those kind women on the street willing to make a call for us, we would have missed our only opportunity to see La Familia Segrada. Thankfully we were eventually connected, but what a way to start! The tour was fine and I'd recommend that - but not the tour company you used.
