What will you find?

Your Morocco day trip to Tangier begins with a scenic drive from Costa del Sol to Algecias or Tarifa, in the southern tip of Spain. From there, board a high-speed ferry to travel to Morocco across the Strait of Gibraltar (45 to 60 minutes), where your journey to the exotic Moroccan city of Tangier will continue on a comfortable, air-conditioned coach.

Start your tour of Tangier with a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city center and continue by foot to the little souk, the medina (old quarter) and the kasbah (old fortress). Admire Morocco's rich architecture, wander around the spice markets, visit one of the local bakeries to try some tasty bread (own expense) or stop to see the snake charmer.

Next, go shopping at a typical bazaar and see many types of carpets and handicrafts. Have a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant, and feast on food like couscous, tagine and other local delicacies. During lunch, be entertained with a performance by a Berber dancer.

Continue with a short stop at Cape Spartel, where you can see the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean mix together. Then, sample traditional mint tea and learn about the mint tea rituals at a local shop. Next, visit the Cave of Hercules and stop by the white sand dunes that border the Atlantic. If you wish, you may ride a camel here (own expense)! Alternatively, enjoy free time to explore the beautiful area.

On your way back to the ferry, admire views of the Moroccan landscape. After your cross the strait, relax on the comfortable coach ride from the Spain port back to Costa del Sol.

Please note: The itinerary and schedule of this trip are subject to change from December to April due to ferry's timetables and the Ramadan holiday.

Reviews & Ratings

  1. I loved this day trip to Tangier. We completed 2 slips for the crossing, Pedro our Spanish guide, took these and our passports and we just glided through border patrol. The crossing went smoothly from Tarifa to Tangier. Once in Tangier we were introduced to Hassan our Morroccan guide. We did a tour of the Kasbah, had a meal and then went to a handicrafts shop where I bought a rug; which I got at a good price after a bit of bartering. We visited the caves of Hercules, so named by an ancient Greek visitor for being the point where Europe and Africa were separated by Hercules. I fogot to mention the snake charmer we met along the way.
  2. A great way to go if you want a taste of Morocco. It is all much too rushed and I wished we could have stayed and really enjoyed the experience, but it does provide the opportunity to enjoy the day in a very different place and culture. Tour guides were excellent.
  3. The day trip to Tangier Morocco was wonderful. Having a guide allowed us to be safe, feel comfortable and allowed us to learn as we toured Tangier. The entertainment was great. Although I enjoyed the camel experience, I felt that the camels were not well treated and cared for. You can also extend the camel experience. Having a variety of entertainment was great. The food and restaurant experience was terrific. The only short coming is that we did not have enough time to listen to the presentations, window shop and then decide and have time to move through the souk and purchase what we wanted.
  4. I had a great time, what would have been nice though is to know that the bus ride would be 4 hours long. It would have only taken me a half hour to meet at the ferry, I wish I hadn't wasted my time picking every single person up from their hotel. A little more free time would have been nice as well.
  5. I was very happy with this tour. I'd taken a similar tour in 2008, but due to slow ferries that day, the tour missed quite a few items. It made this tour feel like a brand new experience. The only thing that I would prefer is an option for a later departure from Tangier to allow more free time in the city. All in all, a fantastic experience!
